Dave, Sandra & Abe

I pretty much aggrandize everything... maybe catastrophize is a better word. Last night when Abe woke up at 1:00 am, it was raining, and I heard a strange gushing of water. It sounded like it was outside our window, but before I could really tell, it stopped, and I heard a steady drip, drip, drip. Panicked, I got up to determine the origin of the noise. I went to our closet, then into the bathroom, where down by the baseboard I could hear it the loudest. Not really knowing at that point what it was, I woke David up and he informed me that it was a leak in the roof where one of the pipes exited the house. I asked what was to be done, and he very calmly said, "Well, we wait until summer when it's dry and I can fix it." I took his face in my hands, and urgently explained to him that this was doing tons of damage and the floor to the laundry room was going to cave in. Probably even our whole roof. In fact, our house most likely was just going to crumble because of the water damage. I wanted to call a roofer right then and there. We needed a new roof! NOW! My anxiety level had shot up. I knew I was not going to get any sleep because I needed to think of all of the terrible damage that was happening w/in the walls of my own home!! But I did doze off, and the house is still standing today.

Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI hope he starts to sleep better each week. Sleep deprivation is not fun. He is beautiful and I'm so happy for you both.
